Event Summary:
HFA is the world’s leading congress for experts in cardiology to discuss strategies for a universal approach towards prevention and the treatment of heart failure. Heart Failure and the World Congress on Acute Heart Failure are annual congresses of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the ESC. Heart Failure 2018 was under the theme ‘Heart failure: Classical repertoire, modern instruments’, aims to discuss how the latest techniques can be best combined to optimize medical and device management so that experts can ultimately improve symptoms and outcomes in the patients with heart failure.
The world’s premier heart failure conference, the HFA congress was invaluable in providing delegates with a forum in which to access and discuss cutting-edge information on heart failure with peers and experts and to learn how to integrate all the different aspects to ensure the best possible outcomes. The time has come to step back and consider heart failure in the context of cardiac disease as a whole, to look at the bigger picture. HFA has transformed itself to broaden the understanding of heart failure and its treatment and this is why Heart Failure 2018 looks different to previous congresses. The days had passed when drugs were the mainstay of heart failure treatment and specialists now also use a range of devices and interventions to improve patient outcome. The art lies in working out the optimal integration of different treatment modalities for individual patients.
This year`s program, included a faculty encompassing all the different cardiovascular medicine subspecialties, including electrophysiologists, interventionists and surgeons, as well as primary care physicians, nurses, social workers and psychologists, among many others.
Heart Failure 2018 brilliantly put multidisciplinary care on the map of heart failure management.

Companies were invited to organize Satellite Symposia included in the Heart Failure scientific program. These sessions offered pertinent data on the latest scientific information and developments from the industry. Satellite Symposia were held within the congress center in lecture rooms.
