1st Iranian Iron Academy

It is our great pleasure to announce that the 1st Iranian Iron Academy was held successfully by Barsian darou, on 30th November 2017 in Espinas Palace Hotel, Tehran-Iran. 1st Iranian Iron Academy brought together a number of 150 specialists with an interest in iron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anemia (IDA), including gastroenterologists, obstetricians and gynecologists.
Event Summary:
The chairman of the 1st Iranian Iron Academy opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees noting that Iron Deficiency Anemia is the most common form of anemia in the world and negatively impact physical quality of life. Then the event continued with a general session for both gastroenterology group and obstetrics and gynecology group; reviewing Iron Metabolism and Pathophysiology of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. Also, different diagnostic and treatment approaches to these conditions were discussed in details.
After a short coffee break, the program went on with plenary presentations and scientific parallel panels, which provided an excellent opportunity to discuss hot topics in iron deficiency/iron deficiency anemia in smaller groups.
The key scientific learning objectives of 1st Iranian Iron Academy were to:
- Increase awareness about the prevalence of iron deficiency/iron deficiency anemia in gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology and its clinical, social and economic consequences
- Discuss the challenges relating to diagnosis of iron deficiency/iron deficiency anemia in gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology and assess the national unmet needs
- Provide an update on the latest clinical developments relating to the management of iron deficiency/iron deficiency anemia and review the treatment options/share practical experience of managing iron deficiency/iron deficiency anemia in gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology
- Share clinical experiences across different hospitals and centers in Iran
1st Iranian Iron Academy was accredited by gastroenterology ward of Imam Khomeini Hospital (Tehran university of medical sciences) and National Association of Iranian Gynecologists & Obstetricians (NAIGO), to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. 1st Iranian Iron Academy 2017 was designated for a maximum of 5 hours of CME credits.
